Leona Cakes & Pastries

Nobody has ever asked me which pastry house in the city is my favorite. Well, I don't need to be asked to tell you what it is. As for my close friends, they probably know. If you guess it's an ordinary bakeshop, think again. It's nothing else but Leona Cakes & Pastries.

Why Leona? In a word, delicious. Of course, there are several pastry houses you can find elsewhere selling delightful goodies but Leona's products are simply unique in taste and moreover, affordable.

One of Leona Cakes and Pastries branch is located at the second floor of SM City Cebu's The Northwing. The size of the store there is not enough for its numerous loyal costumers who always rush to purchase its goods. (that's what I always witness every time I visit the place)

A lot of racks dominate the area: two long racks placed at the center, around six plastered on the one wall and some by the counter- all holding containers full of pastries. If you're asking where are the cakes showcased, viola!

Leona Cakes are very delicious. All have their very own unique design that even at first look, you'll be mouth-watering. Unlike most cake shops, in Leona, you can purchase a cake by slice- suitable for those who crave for sweets but don't eat much.
Pastries are sold from a minimum price of Php 22.00. Yup! That affordable! When you go and have a quick snack in the place, you can also have some fascinating drink finds. Tea lovers, here's for all of you..
Not only tea, cold and warm beverages are present in the menu: softdrinks, coffee, blended drinks and hot choco to name a few. What more can you ask for to have an elegant, quick snack?

Simplicity is beauty, as they say and Leona Cakes and Pastries live that line when talking about their interior. There's nothing much to expect. The top counter's ceiling is graced with wood embraced by vines, leaves and colorful flowers- showing a fresh atmoshpere.

There are not much tables and chairs in the eating area. It's one of the down side of the place. Whenever I go to Leona, I have to wait for a few minutes to have a seat for a lot of  costumers fill the store time by time especially during holidays.

The chairs are comfy. It's brown in color paired with green fabric. Also in brown, the table size is enough for your stuff to be placed. I usually waste my time their (study/eat) and I haven't encountered space problems when it comes to the tables.

Another thing that's part of the down side of Leona is its cashiers and cake servers. They are all rude- seriously. They don't greet you. They don't smile at you and they talk too serious that negative vibes fall into you-I felt it! I personally don't like the people working there. But hey! It's not them that we're in the store, we're talking about the food so forget them! Ha!

If you're in SM City Cebu, don't miss the chance to drop buy and try some of Leona's cakes and pastries. Believe me! You'll love it!

Yo-Go Boy: Made for Kids. Loved by Adults

Yogurt is all over town. Stalls and stores are filling out the sides and centers of our favorite malls with them. With different colors and brand names dominating the city, who hasn't tasted one?

Yogurt is good. It's delicious, healthy and affordable- and oh yea, -easy to find. All yogurt in the world are the same except, usually, for it's taste. When talking about a yogurt's taste, it mainly talks about how delectable is the ultimate star of the snack- the cream. Creams come in different colors; white and pink to name a few.

With Yo-Go Boy, Yogurt Cream is fine. It's a bit sweet and a bit salty. Like other stores,  Yo-Go Boy offers various flavor toppings anyone could choose from. Every Yo-Go order can have a dressing of Choco Syrup and Strawberry Syrup. *slurp*

Yo-Go Boy is located at the lower-ground floor of SM City Cebu. It is quite small yet enough to welcome happy costumers. The place is very clean. The side walls are painted blue, the front walls are glasses with printed Yo-Go Logo, the materials and machines are arranged well but the seats are quite are only two.

Everytime you visit the yogurt store, a happy and approachable cashier  and caterer will serve you. It's one of the good things Yo-Go Boy has compared to other yogurt stores.

Yo-Go Boy frozen yogurt is a healthy dessert that both adults and kids love. Aside from being insanely satisfying, Yo-Go Boy helps boosts the immune system, and lowers bad cholesterol for a healthier lifestyle. Try it and surely you will love it :)

Oh yum! I really love the syrup! It's so sweet! The next time your taste-buds look for great really cold yogurt, head on to Yo-Go Boy.

Ila Puti - Asian & Fusion Cuisine

Dinner Time! To spice up the night, my friends and I went out for a scrumptious dinner in Asia Town I.T. Park, Lahug. No restaurant was planned to be visited so we made an on-the-spot choosing of which eatery we will be dining in. Ila Puti was in front of us so we choosed to dine in it. Haha

Looking at the restaurant from the outside, it looks like a Chinese-oriented eatery. It looks attractive and formal. Whether you enter or not, you can see its wonderful interior because the front wall is made up of glass graced with a glass door as well.

A large bulletin of menu is placed up above the counter’s wall. I love it like that. It’s clean and unique. The lights decoration is nice. There are white lights on the ceiling but yellow ones dominate the entire place- making a ‘royalty & intimate’ atmosphere.

The chairs are in gray color that compliments the black tables. One of the wall is made up of piled bricks, the other is plain painted white and the other one, as I have mentioned above is plain glass. The counter is clean and the staff is really approachable-adding more points in making costumers come back to eat in the restaurant.

I like their Grilled Liempo. It tastes so good. The overnight marinated slab of pork belly with herbs and spices is paired with garlic-shrimp fried rice –making it taste spicy and delicious. It is sold for Php200.00 only!

The Sisig Sizzler is the bomb! It’s so spicy and hot in the mouth! It’s said that it’s made in the Ila Puti way of making food really spicy. It costs Php180.00.

Only one of our friends ordered something that is eaten with plain rice. He ordered Ila Puti’s Plato Sizzling Burger Steak. It’s a quarter pound burger patty with mushroom gravy and white rice. It costs Php150.00

My friends loved the Pasta Puti. It is the restaurant’s best-seller. It costs Php180.00. It is Penne coated in rich white sauce with mushrooms and bacon with two bread sticks. Yum yum yum!
For our beverage, the gang ordered canned softdrinks and some bottles of Saint James Mineral Water. I for one ordered the Chocolate Milk Shake which melted me. Haha! The beverage that costs Php100.00 melted my intestines away! It is so delicious I want to have another round.

Flame It! Burgers and Sausages

Burger stalls and stores are present all over the town. You can see big branches in malls and small ones in the corners of the streets. All these offer various kinds of burgers but never do they offer grilled ones. That is what Flame It! Burgers and Sausages are proud of.
Tired of strolling around the interiors of Ayala Center Cebu, I treated myself with my friends a different kind of dining experience only found in Cebu City-Grilled Burgers. At first sight, you could tell that the restaurant is foreign because of its unique look. The entrance at the same time, exit door is framed with real yellow, black and orange bricks making the store look attractive and nice to visit.

The walls near the walking area of the mall are mainly glasses with the restaurant’s logo in transparent print. On the other hand, the rest of the walls are covered with food illustrations paired with bricks at the bottom part. The floor is tiled with red-orange tiles.

More than attractive entrance, walls and floorings, the restaurant embellished their eating area with comfy seats and spacious tables. White tables were paired with black seats and black tables were paired with white seats- a color tandem of restaurant chair & table I’ve never seen so far. There were tables inside and outside the restaurant. The whole interior design is really nice to watch at.

Reading materials of all kinds are present for costumers to kill the time while waiting for their orders. Beside the rack is a tray of sauces and spices for everyone’s need. It’s now my turn to order and I barely wait for my snack. My friends and I ordered five different kinds of food and Coke soft drink for beverage.

In Flame it! Burgers and Sausages Restaurant, you get to see your food prepared for your satisfaction. Only a glass wall barriers you from the grilling area which is in front of your table- assuring the costumer’s food is done with proper handling sanitation. What other grilling burger stations in Cebu can you find food preparation like this? None!

In less than ten minutes, our food was served. The grilling factor is the key to the quick cooking because of the strong open fire in contact by the patties and buns. It is also the key to healthy eating because the restaurant needs not to use product oils but instead, make use of the natural fats stored inside the patties. Something really good to know!

Now is my favorite part- eating time! I tried the Onion Rings first that costs Php40.00. It tasted good. It is crispy but it’s better eaten with catsup. Their French Fries costs Php 37.00 and it tastes just the same as other restaurant’s fries. I made a few bites with my friend’s Bacon Mushroom & Cheese Flame Half Pounder costing Php145.00. It was terrific! I love the sweet taste of Cheese mixed with the Bacon Mushrooms inside the elongated buns. And finally! I ate my Frankfurter Sausage with Garlic Mayo costing Php 127.00. It’s delicious. My tastes buds liked it, I ordered another one and took home. Haha!

The same with other restaurants, Flame It! Burgers and Sausage’s Burger Steak tastes good. It has no difference with the taste of other eateries offering Burger Steaks. Simply Delicious!

Cebu has never experienced a dining scene offered by Flame it! Burgers and Sausages until it came out of the market. What‘s so unique about this restaurant is that it is the only one that made Cebu taste Grilled Burger Novelty food.

The restaurant offers gourmet burgers on a healthy oatmeal bun, wherein costumers have the option to choose any epicurean toppings listed in the menu. For those who don’t like burgers that much, the restaurant offers German Sausages at affordable prices alongside pasta and rice meals. They also have an array of menu items from rice meals to desserts.

Flame It! Burgers and Sausages dining experience was fun and flavorful. You might want to consider dropping by any branches of it whenever you visit Cebu.

The Story
Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable.

Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception.

Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

My Review
I watched the movie on the official day of film release, July 15, 2010 at SM City Cebu. Yes, in IMAX 2D. Overall, the movie is super good! I say, Christopher Nolan's a genius! His story of 'Inception' is truly unique and the actions of its stars are well oriented on how to portray the roles of the characters.

Though the movie requires total focus and presence of mind to fully understand the flow of its story, it's all going to be worthwhile. Your thinking efforts will pay off in the end of the show. It's a nerve-wrecking and mind-boggling movie- you have to highlight every detail to explain to your friend, who missed a part watching the movie, on why the setting changed in a short span of time, why everyone fell asleep in seconds from being so active moments ago, why everybody is floating, why everyone has to die and so much more!

'Inception' is a bomb of action and drama. It's full of thrill and mysteries that will drive your senses to be vigilant in every happening that takes place. The sound effects are perfect! It makes you feel that you're with the characters in the movie- every explosion, every crying and every scene; your heart will pump fast because of the surround sound of IMAX 2D.

Since it's 2D, the screen is pretty much bigger than your usual theater screen size. You have to move your head left and right and/or top to bottom to see the characters talking/acting their part- yup! That big.

To score, a perfect 10/10 well explains how good the movie is. I don't recommend you to watch the movie but it is a very exemplary film. It's something I honestly, don't want kids/children to see. This movie can make them think differently with their age right now or when they grow up. Their beliefs in life could change because of this- so please don't make them watch this until they reach 18 or 19 and above.
