Visayan Pop Music Festival 2013

Last May 18, the 1st Visayan Pop Music Festival (VisPop) had its Finals Night held at Benedicto College Artists Hall.

From the 80 entries that were submitted December of last year, 6 good quality Bisaya songs were chosen to battle it out during the Finals Night. Jewel and Joe Villaflores' "Duyog" emerged as the Grand WInner, even garnering 2 more special awards namely Best Interpreter Award and the MOR People's Choice award.

Lourdes Maglinte's "Laylay" came in 2nd also bagging the Bisayaa Uy Special Award which was given to the entry that had the best lyrics as chosen by Artist Ko. The charming duet of Marianne Dungog's & Kyle Wong's "Balay Ni Mayang" came in 3rd place. Alphecca Perpetua's "Historias" was given the Pinaka  Fighter award as the entry chosen by Fighter Wine.

The judges for the Finals Night were DTI-Director Nelia Navarro, Cebuana award-winning singer Anna Fegi and FILSCAP board member and legendary singer-songwriter Gary Granada.

Taking on the ambivalent tagline "Bisaya Uy!", VISPOP aims to alleviate the current state of Cebuano music on the radio by introducing a more professional and competitive playlist of new Cebuano songs. However, its organizers are quick to point out that VISPOP is not just another contest, it is a songwriteing campaign.

VISPOP is organized by Artist Ko or Artists & Musicians Marketing Cooperative led by its core team Ian Zafra, Cattski Espina, Jude Gitamondoc & Insoy Ninal in cooperiation with FILSCAP (Filipino Society of Composers, Authros & Publishers).
