Education is vital to lasting positive change in children’s lives. Yet for millions of children and youth in low-income sectors of the society and poor communities, a quality education is beyond reach. Many other kids are not prepared when they start school and drop out in the early grades. iLearners Inc. reaches Cebu’s most marginalized children in the rural communities.
Here in Cebu, iLearners’ Brighter Future Program is a yearly activity every opening of the school year and is one of iLearners curriculum which sets to help rural primary students in 4 schools in 2 barangays in Cebu, Lunas in Carcar and Kaluangan in Asturias, with 300 students currently benefiting from the program. Bags with school supplies are distributed to students enrolled and teachers supplies to educators in 4 of the primary schools adopted by iLearners Inc.
Crippled by budget cuts and a lack of funding, a growing number of schools across the country are facing a serious shortage of school supplies. Students who merely can’t afford school supplies for their education get frustrated. Educators whose classrooms lack basic items such as paper and pencils must often pay for them out of their own pockets. Supply shortages present a serious challenge for teachers and can lower the quality of education children receive.

June 5 & 12, 2011, iLearners members and volunteers would be traveling to Lunas, Carcar and Kaluangan Asturias, Cebu to help these kids get the chance to have a brighter future they deserve. iLearners Inc. together with Jollibee would be hosting games and students would be treated to an appetizing Jollibee lunch.
iLearners Inc officers, board of trustees and founders would like to thank all the dedicated members, volunteers and sponsors who continuously support the group’s cause “Fighting rural illiteracy one step at a time”!
