Cebu Bloggers Society

IF YOU'RE looking for a group that flaunts Cebu City, you'll have hundreds of results. One of the line-up of names of those groups would include nothing less than the Cebu Bloggers Society (CBS).

The Cebu Bloggers Society is widely known for it's uniqueness of flaunting Cebu not only to the different parts of the country but to the world as well. So what makes CBS a unique group among the others? Good question! CBS promotes the Queen City of the South in terms of blogging.
Numerous organizations help promote Cebu City through writing, televising, and speech -very common channels of handing down messages to people may it be locally or internationally. These means of communication in promoting Cebu are hard to achieve when you have small budget.

Differ blogging. Blogging as it sounds, is very fun to do. You need less speech, less chattering and less watching. You make your fingers do the talking. Yes! That  unique! Aside from the fact that you only need a creative mind to publish out attractive articles in the net, you can create it all for free.

The Cebu Bloggers Society has transformed the face of blogging in Cebu. Founder Mark Monta has started it all; from quite a number of Information Technology (IT) enthusiasts now comes a group of a hundred Cebuanos gathering for one goal- promote Cebu through blogging.

From simple online journals, our blogs have become vital to the society making us more determined to work further at our best. Blogging at times, is considered as a media and we have turned into media people.

CBS participates both government and non-government activities. Its members have learned and experienced many things that made them better beings in the community. All these and more have made Cebu Bloggers Society a multi-awarded group in Cebu.

Being a member of CBS, I can say that the best thing about the organization is the treatment of one another. The creation of the group turned out to be a creation of a family with members of pure creativity and personalities from photography, to graphics to writing, to encoding, to video and a whole lot more!

Cebu Bloggers Society on 3!
In celebration of the 3rd year founding anniversary of the Cebu Bloggers Society, the group opened its doors to its newest members last February 19, 2011 at PAGCOR, Casino Filipino Parkmall Satellite BranchThe gathering was simple yet a memorable one as members introduced their selves, chattered about their blogs, played games and enjoyed the food prepared on their tables.

Big thanks goes to Mr. Renato Z. OsmeƱa Jr. of PAGCOR, Casino Filipino Parkmall Satellite Branch for the venue and Holister, Inc. for the overall set-up of the place. You made our celebration successful.

Throughout the years, the Cebu Bloggers Society has and will continue to live up its goal in promoting Cebu Province by means of blogging. Congratulations Cebu Bloggers Society! More power to us all!

Bloggers Carol and Give Gifts to Fire Victims

Not later in November of this year, tabloids in Cebu City had similar news headlines. It was all about a fire accident that happened. Houses were burned down in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City. Over 213 families lost their belongings.

To show concern and love, the members of the Cebu Bloggers Society extended help to the fire victims. Since the Christmas Season is present, the bloggers came up with the idea of caroling and giving donations to the affected families.

Last December 19, 2010, the event took place. It was graced by the band Bethany who rendered songs. At the end of the day, the bloggers successfully put smiles on the faces of the fire victims.

All hands together for the generous bloggers and sponsors who shared their Christmas blessings in the event:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone!

Best Cebu Blogs 2010

With the aim to recognize the existence and relevance of blogs, bloggers, and blogging in Cebu, Best Cebu Blogs (BCB) came to inception. On its third wave of annual blogging recognition, it spiced up the local scene of blogging in the Queen City of the South.

An online votation screened down 20 blog entries from 41 nominations last November 26. For the final judgement, each of the Top 20 Bplogs will be appraised by BCB Team's handpicked experienced and credible bloggers from different parts of the country namely Azrael Deasis Coladilla (Luzon), Stanley Cabigas (Visayas), and Avel Manansala (Mindanao).

This year, Best Cebu Blogs Awards will be held at the The PenthouseSugbutel Cebu City on December 12, 2010 at 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. I for one will be there to witness the offline gathering of Cebuano and Cebuana Bloggers.

Something catchy in this event: my blog, adventurouslei.com is part of the Top 20 Blogs. My hopes aren't high but wish me luck :) Thank you so much to all of you who supported my blog by voting it in and encouraging your friends in voting it too.

Academy for International Culinary Arts (AICA)

Get ready Cebu! Get ready for a Primier Culinary Education!

The Academy for International Culinary Arts (AICA) wants you to indulge in Culinary Excellence! The Academy believes in the creative Filipino Culinary Talent. By providing a firm theoretical foundation through 100% hands-on applications, the school ensures that their graduates have the sharper edge to succeed in their careers.

I've always loved food and food creation. In fact, it was my second choice of college course when I was still in the process of choosing one. Being practical, I took up Information Technology instead.

My passion for cooking and baking has never changed that is why I really jumped for joy when I knew that I got the last slot of exclusive ten people to indulge in a culinary experience and food trip in the newly opened international culinary school here in Cebu.

Ten fortunate people, mostly bloggers,  completed the list. It was already 2:00 in the afternoon and everyone settled themselves in the spacious lecture room of AICA. With me were John, John's Mom, Clarence, Rabsin, Debbie, Sinjin, Vernon, Novell and a friend from Pinoy World.

After being oriented with the basics and happenings of AICA through video-clip-watching, we were divided into two groups. The first group composed of Vernon, John's Mom and Novell. They were tasked to bake Churos under the teaching of Chef Marleen Ong.

On the other hand, the rest of the people were my group-mates. We were tasked to cook Quesadillas and make delicious Salsas under the guidance of Chef Nikko Mabugat and Chef Joe Mike Lontoc.

THE ART BEGAN!
The fun began after wearing Green AICA Aprons. The group were separated because there were different kitchens and facilities to use in the different foods to cook but only a big wall with a big open window parted us- we were all in touch with everyone the whole time.

Each of us had our own work station.

Happy cooking bloggers with Chef Nikko! :)

Even before the food were on its half way to be finished, they already looked and smelled so good!

The Chefs who made the delicious Churos!

Munching out the Mexican foods, Quesadillas and the Churos! Yum! Yum! Yum!

We feasted our food after all the cooking lessons and talking tales.

EVALUATION

The school is the best culinary school in town. I strongly believe that it's perfect for one who is eager to learn the basics and advances of food creation to study in the academy. With just the food party we had, I could say, everyone who is part of the school really live up their name and labels.

International. The people in the front desk attended the visitors professionally. In the first place, I made mentioned that we were divided into groups. Such act just showed that the Faculty Chefs specialized in specific Culinary Fields. During the cooking part, we were Taught with Premium Grade Ingredients. With what I have observed, the school is truly Equipped with Industry Standard Professional Kitchens and Facilities. Chef Nikko and Chef Mike made us work with our own hands with their eyes on the move of watching us in every cut and add we made- showing indeed, 100% Hands-On Learning Experience. What more could I say? The school limits its students showing Low Student Teacher Ratio- just the perfect way to highlight every detail in a lesson application.

I would like to thank the people who make up AICA Cebu most especially to Chef Nikko Mabugat, Chef Marleen Ong and Chef Joe Mike Lontoc. Big thanks as well goes to my fellow bloggers who made the event so fun and memorable.

CONTACT
Adventurouslei highly recommends you to take Academy for International Culinary Arts as your school this coming opening of school year. Remember always that the best utensil around the Kitchen is a SHARPER MIND. And sharper minds start at the Academy.

AICA will be offering more courses soon. Whatever you're craving, you can surely find it at the Academy for International Culinary Arts. Indulge in Culinary Excellence!

The Academy- Cebu is now accepting Enrollees for the June 2010 batch.  AICA is located at The Gallery, Juan Luna St. corner Golam Drive Mabolo, Cebu City. Visit aicaculinary.com for the latest news and events within the academy.

Bloggers' Night

TODAY IS A very exciting day for me because it's the time that I'm scheduled to be with the CBS members (to think that I am not one of them literally) in a gathering tonight. After preparing myself at home in Talisay for school, I headed to SM. I attended my classes from 2:00 pm to 5:40 pm and then roamed around the Northwing with Sinjin and Karen. A few minutes to 6:00 pm, Sinjin and I taxied ourselves to Neo Neo Food Grill located at Mabolo.

What we were there for was a politics-oriented event. We were like attending a seminar about the brief basics and vital facts voters should know about the upcoming May 2010 Elections in the country. The discussion of topics commenced after we took our dinner. The media was there. My friend Sinjin and I were interviewed by an ABS-CBN News reporter. GMA interviewed some of the organizers of the meeting. We were able to know so much about the differences and importance of an automated election. It was a wit-filled night!

Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS)

Scanning process

After all the registered voters in a certain place cast and scan their votes, PCOS automatically prints out a receipt-like paper -a summary of the total number of votes corresponding to the different national and local candidates in seconds.

One of the speakers of the event elaborates to the attendees on how quick the results are counted and how important following instructions are.

Part of the event was the demonstration of how the election entries (votes) are going to be processed & transfered and a testing of  Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS). It was one informative night indeed! The event ended past 8:00 in the evening. We all parted ways after a few picture taking.

Some of them went straight home while the others jammed together at I.T. Park. The last ones who were my companions in waiting for a ride were Noelle and Kristian. I would like to thank Kristian for the company that time! I went home in my Lola's house in San Nicholas via taxi. Check out these cool stuff I brought home from the gathering! All the attendees of the event were given freebies and I for one -even thought I'm not yet an official member the Cebu Bloggers Society, I got too! Wweeeee!

After fixing myself around 9:00 pm, I chattered with my friends and cousins in the place. They told me about a dance audition tomorrow at ABS-CBN. Honestly, I was interested with the auditions when I first knew about it on television but I had second thoughts in pushing through with the plan of making a shot. Because my friends were very eager for me to join, I pursued the affirmative side.

To have a good audition on the next day (the second and final day of scheduled auditions), I had to have a dance music. I preferred hip hop. It was already around 10:00 when the crew looked for music for me. *Wweeee! How helpful!* It was then that I had the feeling that I should really take the auditions well. We find it hard to have the right or perharps perfect song to use until 12:00 dawn. *lol* We really searched that long. We were very eager. The guys were not sleepy anyway and the had nothing to do. They must have thought of wasting their time in a way like helping people out. Bwahhaha!

Believe it or not, I began my dance practice pass 12:00 midnight and ended before 4:00 dawn. I was uber tired considering that I attended an event right before I got myself in Lola's house. I took a nap by 4:00 am and planned to wake up before 7:00 to have another round of practice. *laugh*
