As promised, here are some more details about Alter Space.

Alter Space is the newest Filipino-developed Facebook game. It is the first of its kind as it directly addresses the greater public about the ways on how they can have a cleaner and greener environment. The ultimate goal of the game is to reduce Carbon Footprint.


Carbon footprint is the measure of the amount of greenhouse gases produced by human activities. These greenhouse gases trap heat in the atmosphere through the greenhouse effect. The more greenhouse gases are released, the warmer our planet gets. Too much warmth on a global scale affects our weather in ways that could harm our environment and life on Earth.

Reducing the amount of carbon emissions in the planet is one way of managing Global Warming. To do this, we need to choose activities that leave only a small carbon footprint. 

In Alter Space, the game player has his/her own little planet to take care of. They do this by keeping their carbon footprint levels low, while still keeping their Happiness levels up. They will have to accomplish fun tasks and challenges while their carbon footprint is measured.


Every choice they make affects their environment, and the game always gives feedback as to whether the player's choice was environmentally sound or not. They can also invite friends to be their neighbors, and their over-all carbon footprint as a community will be calculated.


If they fail to make the cleaner and greener choice, their virtual planet will experience disasters like Smog, which cause their avatar to lose interaction, and Heat Wave, wherein they will have to perform extra tasks or pay a fee to bring their carbon footprint down.


Aside from carbon footprint calculator, game players' progress is also measured through their Happiness level, Current-cy, and Experience points.


Mini-games, meanwhile, provide game players an interactive way with which they could learn more about the different sources of cleaner and renewable energy. Harvesting alternative energy is how they earn points in their planet- a significant function of the game that encourages players to seek out and use alternative energy.


While addressing the bigger issues of carbon footprint reduction and environmental preservation, Alter Space employs some uniquely Filipino features in doing so. It is the perfect game for Filipinos to play.

New Game to Invade Facebook this February 2011

Hey everyone! How have you been? While many of us are hooked with the internet because of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Plurk, we have forgotten to pay attention on thinking about our environment.

There has been so much raining the past few weeks and a couple of scorching hot days. It is because of Global Warming which is terribly destroying our planet. There is no reason to fret because from now on, you can help resolve this environmental problem by playing Facebook's newest game.

Yup! You read it right! Here's something new and exciting to watch out online- Alter Space! It is the first Filipino environmental awareness game in Facebook. It is developed by AboitizPower and it will be launched soon!

I am one of the many Facebook users who are waiting for the grand launch of the game. Let's reduce our carbon footprints and support Filipino works by playing Alter Space.

Ogie Alcasid Serenades Cebuanos

A night of thanksgiving, celebrating one man's masterpiece: Music. Ogie Alcasid pays tribute to one of the country's greatest composers- George Canseco.

Quite a number of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) fans rushed to The Terraces on the night of September 25, 2010 as Ogie Alcasid rendered a set of inspiring songs to the costumers of Ayala Center Cebu at The Terraces. 

Ogie Alcasid promoted Ayala Center Cebu's Greenology Campaign and the release of his album that night. See pre-post of this event here.

Cebu To Join Earthdance 2010

One the best ways to create peace in the world is to enrich your family. If you are successful in doing so, your community can be changed- get affected by your positive view in life and follow you. It will eventually affect greatly the country we are living in.

Earthdance is the world's largest synchronized music and dance festival for peace. Taking place annually in over 500 locations and 80 countries, Earthdance joins participants worldwide in a one-time Prayer for Peace. Earthdance events features notable speakers and performances of well-known people. It has been supported by hundreds of charitable organizations and business companies.

Every public Earthdance event donates at least 50% of its profit to an organization doing work at least one of the following areas: The Welfare of Children and Urban Youth, Indigenous Peoples and Cultures, International Relief and Development, Environmental, Sustainability and Protection, and Organizations that Promote Peace.

This 2010 and onwards, Cebu will observe Earthdance. Slated on the date September 18-19, 2010, the organizers aim to make the city the Heart of Interfaith Movement. Everyone is welcome to participate Cebu Earthdance 2010 which is having the theme "Cultural Tolerance". Gather all of your friends and family at the Family Park in Talamban, Cebu City. This World Event is open to all and free from charges.

Jewelmer : Experiencing the Luster in Cebu

Jewelmer's Luster for Life: A pearl exhibit opened in Ayala Center Cebu last July 23. Located at the Rotunda, 1st Level Activity Center of the popular shopping destination, this modular exhibition is a visual tour of the golden South Sea pearl’s journey from farm to fine jewelry and is part of the company calls the “Jewelmer Experience”. 

 

The Luster for Life exhibit is composed of six main panels: Palawan South Sea pearls, Luster for Life, The Miracle of the Rare Golden Pearl, European Elegance, An Environmental Gem, and A Nation’s Pride Each segment features a combination of vivid imagery and descriptive text. Also included in the exhibit are the actual tools used for pearl cultivation, a pearl diorama, and some unique pieces that are part of Jewelmer’s fine jewelry collections. 

Luster for Life
When women wear pearls, it is she who glows. Pearls have the unique ability to enhance the beauty of its wearer, rather than call attention to itself. This is because of its luster, or the warm glow of the gem.

The luster is described as the pearl’s outer sheen and surface brilliance and is created when light passes through thousands of layer of nacre, the substance that makes up a pearl. Earth Hour 2010

Earth Hour is a global event organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It's mission is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature by turning off unecessary power-using materials for one hour simultaneously with the other millions of people around the globe.

Whether you are an individual, a business manager, a school  principal or a City official, you can show your support by turning off your lights for Earth Hour.

As for me, Earth Hour is a global election. Your power switch is your vote. Turn off your power supplies at 8:30 to 9:30 pm this coming March 27, 2010 and it means you cast your vote the option of saving our future.

The principal of Earth Hour is that small actions taken by a large number of individuals can have a large impact on greenhouse gas emissions. If these actions can be backed by larger scale government actions, the impact could be tremendous. Hundreds of millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for an hour to demand action on climate change. Be a part of those people, be part of us!

Ondoy Typhoon

Guys and Gals! I just finished a new video clip of Typhoon Ondoy that hit Philippines a few weeks ago. I uploaded it 3 days ago and now it reached 60 views! Bwahhaha! Isn't that pleasing? Ehehhe! Rate, comment and Subscribe! Nyahhaha! Muah!

My heart is completely torn watching many people's lives in Manila, via television show wash out knowing that I can do nothing to save them. But wait! Yea- we are no superhuman to save lives but we can prolong their lives through prayers, donations, and alterations within ourselves. I'm encouraging you all to help. Everyone of us has the opportunity to do so ^_^

Business to Environment

Out of failed expectations came a great chance..

Today is a very wonderful day. Sam and I had planned this day to go together in Cebu Midtown Hotel for a business opportunity after schooling. It was about 5:00 pm when we left Informatics School and rode ourselves to the place. Sam was the one who invited me to go with him. He knew about the work we could possibly land on from a certain newspaper. He told me that the work is home based and that the only requirement is the ability to speak in English fluently. I affirmed to him his invitation two days before the day of the 'business hiring'.

My friends and I are money seekers. We always get into business stuff and indulge ourselves with trainings and business opportunities even at a very young age.

The day came and we were both in smart casual attire which was required to be worn as indicated in the newspaper. I honestly have not read any part of the article which is Sam's source of news but I didn't asked for it since I rely him. On our way, Sam kept on telling me that what he has said is about a call center job that is home based. It was something that I didn't expected to be but felt interested in. I don't want to be a call center agent but for the sake of money search, I won't allow that chance to be gone to waste. We were so excited of what the business work is all about. We strongly believed that it is a call center-related job.

What happened next? Bffft! It was a failure! We were almost late for the gathering but we walked slowly and formally by the Hotel's Hallway. We have arrived. "This is it Sam, let's hope that this is the business that will answer all our needs." I said happily. A guard opened the door, led us to the attendance booth and then gently swayed his hands telling us the way to the main room where the job-seminar takes place. I smiled to Sam as we walked towards the door we waited so much to open. A well-dressed woman opened it and what we saw first was something that turned my smile into a frown. It was a just a simple orientation of how home based networking works. "Hayst!" I said- showing Sam by disappointment. I wasn't mad at him. I just felt pain. I hurt myself because of having a very high expectation. I saw the same thing in Sam's eyes. He said "Another networking orientation again-".

A few minutes later, Sam and I decided to not waste our time. We left the hotel and went to a a certain clothing line building. Sam made me accompany him in meeting her friend who looks like Kim Chui. Ahahha- her name is actually Jane. Jane was on her way home with another friend who's name is forgotten by me [my apologies friend!]. Jane and this guy were new members of just-opened organization in Cebu named Green Legion.

This Green Legion is concerned of the current standing of our environment and how to preserve it. The organization supports a product brand called Plantex. Plantex manufactures products made out of useless banana peelings and branches.

I told Jane and his friend to allow us in going to their headquarters and elaborate to Sam and I the good things about their organization and I was so grateful that they didn't hesitated. Their office/hq was great, clean, and so environmental. Sam and I were given a free seminar that was not boring and so informative! We got back to SM to take dinner. I arrived home this day quite late thought we rode the taxi to save time. Words can't explain how true and good the Environment-related seminar we attended. The whole thing sure do alters the member's way of living. To make the long story short, if you buy Plantex products, you earn lots of money, help the environment and know so many people around Cebu!

Sam and I are having no second thoughts in registering to become a member of the young organization. We are hoping to help in growing its number of members. The day turned out into something that Sam and I thought in the first place as a worthless one but then ended as a day which is fruitful and informative. Our thought and purpose of having a job became a chance we grabbed to help save the ENVIRONMENT.

Saving the Earth with 35 Pesos

With all the alarming news regarding the environment, different institutions and organizations make urgent moves to save our dear Mother Earth. With SM, we can contribute help by just buying a bag!
