As more balikbayans are expected to arrive in time for the Sinulog
celebration from all over the world, tourists in the city will be in for an
“unparalleled Cebu experience” this January 16. Initiated by the Cebu City
Government through Cebu City Tourism Commission in partnership with the
Department of Tourism,
Mactan Cebu International
Airport Authority, Sinulog Foundation Inc.
and some volunteers
from the private
sector, the annual
Balik Cebu 2014 Welcome Dinner and Handuman Cultural
Center show will be on January 16, Thursday 5pm at the Ayala Terraces.
The Balik Cebu
Program has been
always been a part
of Sinulog activities
that contributed largely to the
increase of tourists since its inception. Now on its 13th year, the Welcome
Dinner hosted by Ayala Center Cebu will
be serving local Cebuano dishes in “boodle feast” style that will certainly
bring in nostalgic flavors of Cebu. Another addition to the dinner party will
be the Handumanan or the Sugboanon Kanunayng Madaugon which showcases the best
of Cebuano talents.
This year, in
the aftermath of
supertyphoon Yolanda known as
Haiyan internationally, Balik Cebu
is responding to
the call for
aid. The Balik
Cebu committee created
the BalikBalay campaign to
channel donations of balikbayans and other parties willing to help, into
rebuilding lives of homeless survivors by providing funds for their dwellings. Starting
January 6, Monday, dinner coupons worth Php300.00 each will be available at the
Balik Cebu Booth at the Rotunda Area fronting Rustan’s. The booth is designed
to help balikbayans who are in town for Sinulog to find activities and events
that they could join. Take part in
all the festivities
this January only in
Cebu’s premiere shopping,
dining, and entertainment destination, Ayala Center Cebu.
