Support Zerobriant

Filipinos are genuinely talented people. Whenever a conversation is being done in line with Language and Arts,  one never misses to mention the nationality. We are truly world-class.

Before I continue with my profound advertisement of my identity, I have a query for you. Do you remember last year when I ask you, dear readers for help in voting a Filipino entry in a certain international shirt design contest? If you haven't or if you don't have any idea of such write-up of mine, read THIS (my old post) and get back here is you're done reading it :) Thank you.

Done? Wow! That was fast. Haha. Okay, so the write-up was short and so  as this.  To make the long story short, a good friend of mine, Sheila, chattered with me a couple of weeks ago about this guy under the pseudonym 'Zerobriant'. He's an excellent Filipino designer  who's been participating design contests. Like before, (as you've read in my old post) I'm asking for your help to make him win.
Zerobriant could be the first ever Pinoy to have a design used in Havaianas. That's his wish. His design is perfect for the hip footwear, it could possibly be taken :) If  his wish comes to reality, I will surely buy a new pair of Havaianas that has his design. Promise.

He once joined a design contest for charity. There were about 697 entries from around the globe. Only 10 entries were chosen as finalist. Down to 4 lucky winners received the prizes. He won in this competition.

This one is a total cutie. The design is really nice. It depicts a mother cat wearing a scarf for the weather is cold. At first glance and in deep sight, you could see the details the picture has that composes the overall soothing impression of the shirt. A person may give this to anyone on special occasions like Christmas, Birthdays, Valentines Day and others.

Enlisted below are all the links of his contest entries. Click and vote :)
There are other contests that Zerobriant entered but the votations just had its closing. Let's hope for the best of the results and his work. GOD SPEED to him. We hope to know and see more Filipinos flourish in good ways internationally. Mabuhay Philippines!

Dilaab Foundation Needs You

These days, charitable institutions emerge in quite a number; hoping to help our struggling nation by sharing what we have to our unfortunate brothers and sisters. It is really good to be a member of such wholesome groups. Not only that it gives a good impression to yourself but also, to our God.

I am a part of iLearners Foundation. It is a non-profit organization that aims to help eliminate rural illiteracy in the country. Aside from gaining new friends and the enjoyment you get, the idea of making people truly happy is one great thing that is good enough to pay the hard work of the group. How about you? Are you a part of any charitable institution? Be part of one! Read along.

Yesterday, bloggers were invited by Dilaab Foundation for a voluntary task. This task is to create stories and / or research and interview true-to-life happenings that are related with Faith, Hope and Love. The Foundation believes that a life can be changed one story at a time which explains why they invited us.
Not just writers, but also believers and helpers at heart are the people Dilaab is looking for. Yes, they are in need of new members. It could be that you'll just contribute stories to them and not register as a member. In the contrary, you can register as a member but will not write for the group (if it's not your forte to write, it's fine). Or you can do both ways; write for the group and register as a member.

Along with me last night at the Saint Jerome Bible Center of San Carlos Compound were Agnes, Mikyu, Lemski, Jaysee, Vernon and Mark. It was a fun-filled night for me. I was able to talk a lot with my fellow bloggers and get to know new friends. Allow me to elaborate some important details of the Foundation.

Dilaab Foundation is a faith-impelled, Church-based volunteer movement advocating heroic Christian citizenship and leadership. It is at the forefront of social transformation. Its mission is to help build a corruption-intolerant nation, a narcopolitics-free Philippines and a community of families bound in faith and love.

Its outreach programs are directed to the police and other government agencies; young people; OFWs and their families. Such programs are made possible through partnerships with bishops, parishes and other faith based groups, business groups and concerned Filipinos located both here and abroad.

Be part of the Dilaab Foundation Family. They're waiting for you! Help bring light to the darkness. Call 416-9073 and visit www.dilaab.net

Plantersbank Promotes SME Ethics

Plantersbank is the largest privately-owned and managed development bank in the country. It has a total of over Php 50 Billion assests offering banking products, services and business solutions geared towards promoting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The bank, better known as The SME Bank, tours to cities nationwide every year to gather and help their clients abreast cutting edge ideas in management and entrepreneurship. It invites renowned motivational speakers to orient its people. This is what they call the 'SME Speaker Series'.

Last Thursday, August 26, 2010, the Cebu leg of the Plantersbank SME Speaker Series conducted this year's second talk at the City Sports Club, Cebu Business Park. Its guest lecturer was one of the country's most sought-after motivational speaker, Anthony N. Pangilinan

He talked about the importance of business values and how it can be a big factor in helping businesses achieve greater productivity and financial gains, thus the theme, "SME Ethics: Adding Values to your Business".

I learned a lot from the talk despite listening to the speaker while  jotting down notes about the event. Several trivias and touching quotations of famous personalities were told. Questions were raised and mind enriching business information were shared by Mr. Pangilinan. There are so many things in a business that you should take note of that I realized. I will soon apply it all in my dream business when I get the time to do it so.

September Movie Releases

For this month of August, I wasn't able to update my blog in line with movies. One of the monthly write-up I compose which is "Movies Releases" wasn't posted though I got the entry ready to publish. It's payback time. We are a week before September and for what I've done, I'm going to post a week-advance entry of the month's movie releases. Before giving you the list, let's talk about the latest happenings in the world of movies.

Over the past 20 days, we were mirthful with the airing of "Step Up 3D", "The Expendables", " Vampires Suck", and "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World". The third installment of Step Up Series which is "Step Up 3D" was pretty much awaited by many but it doesn't show in the billboard. "The Expendables" rang up $34.8 million last weekend, so even a modestly severe second-session drop of 55% would yield almost $16 million. That's enough for us to assume that this movie will go even higher in the rankings for next week in US. Meanwhile, "Vampires Suck" is second in the chart having about $12,200,000 for this weekend gross. Topping the first three ranking in US Weekend Box Office are (1)The Expendables (2)Vampires Suck (3)Eat Pray Love.

Apparently, Warner Bros.' urban comedy "Lottery Ticket" appears ticketed for the lower-double-digit millions, Dimension's "Piranha 3D" will struggle to reach similar box office waters, and Miramax's Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy "The Switch" is on course for even lower depths.

We are currently waiting for 6 days so we can see the week ranking and gross earnings'of the movies "Nanny McPhee Returns", "The Last Exorcism", "Soul Kitchen" and others that were released last Friday, August 20.

I guess that's enough movie news for heads today. Here are the movies that hasn't been released that is set to be out this month:

Centurion - limited ♦ Change of Plans - NY ♦ Daniel and Ana - limited ♦ Highwater ♦ The Last Exorcism ♦ Make-Out with Violence -limited ♦ Mesrine: Killer Instinct ♦ The Milk of Sorrow ♦ Takers

All of the above will be out on 27th August. Catch it with your pals and family!

Flame It! Burgers and Sausages

Burger stalls and stores are present all over the town. You can see big branches in malls and small ones in the corners of the streets. All these offer various kinds of burgers but never do they offer grilled ones. That is what Flame It! Burgers and Sausages are proud of.
Tired of strolling around the interiors of Ayala Center Cebu, I treated myself with my friends a different kind of dining experience only found in Cebu City-Grilled Burgers. At first sight, you could tell that the restaurant is foreign because of its unique look. The entrance at the same time, exit door is framed with real yellow, black and orange bricks making the store look attractive and nice to visit.

The walls near the walking area of the mall are mainly glasses with the restaurant’s logo in transparent print. On the other hand, the rest of the walls are covered with food illustrations paired with bricks at the bottom part. The floor is tiled with red-orange tiles.

More than attractive entrance, walls and floorings, the restaurant embellished their eating area with comfy seats and spacious tables. White tables were paired with black seats and black tables were paired with white seats- a color tandem of restaurant chair & table I’ve never seen so far. There were tables inside and outside the restaurant. The whole interior design is really nice to watch at.

Reading materials of all kinds are present for costumers to kill the time while waiting for their orders. Beside the rack is a tray of sauces and spices for everyone’s need. It’s now my turn to order and I barely wait for my snack. My friends and I ordered five different kinds of food and Coke soft drink for beverage.

In Flame it! Burgers and Sausages Restaurant, you get to see your food prepared for your satisfaction. Only a glass wall barriers you from the grilling area which is in front of your table- assuring the costumer’s food is done with proper handling sanitation. What other grilling burger stations in Cebu can you find food preparation like this? None!

In less than ten minutes, our food was served. The grilling factor is the key to the quick cooking because of the strong open fire in contact by the patties and buns. It is also the key to healthy eating because the restaurant needs not to use product oils but instead, make use of the natural fats stored inside the patties. Something really good to know!

Now is my favorite part- eating time! I tried the Onion Rings first that costs Php40.00. It tasted good. It is crispy but it’s better eaten with catsup. Their French Fries costs Php 37.00 and it tastes just the same as other restaurant’s fries. I made a few bites with my friend’s Bacon Mushroom & Cheese Flame Half Pounder costing Php145.00. It was terrific! I love the sweet taste of Cheese mixed with the Bacon Mushrooms inside the elongated buns. And finally! I ate my Frankfurter Sausage with Garlic Mayo costing Php 127.00. It’s delicious. My tastes buds liked it, I ordered another one and took home. Haha!

The same with other restaurants, Flame It! Burgers and Sausage’s Burger Steak tastes good. It has no difference with the taste of other eateries offering Burger Steaks. Simply Delicious!

Cebu has never experienced a dining scene offered by Flame it! Burgers and Sausages until it came out of the market. What‘s so unique about this restaurant is that it is the only one that made Cebu taste Grilled Burger Novelty food.

The restaurant offers gourmet burgers on a healthy oatmeal bun, wherein costumers have the option to choose any epicurean toppings listed in the menu. For those who don’t like burgers that much, the restaurant offers German Sausages at affordable prices alongside pasta and rice meals. They also have an array of menu items from rice meals to desserts.

Flame It! Burgers and Sausages dining experience was fun and flavorful. You might want to consider dropping by any branches of it whenever you visit Cebu.

Help Fire Victims

A tragic incident happened last August 10, 2010 in Sitio F. Villa in Barangay T. Padilla. Fire hit the place that Monday, noon. On a recent estimation, nearly 30 houses were razed down. Close to 2,000 families lost their homes and belongings. Fire officials said that it was the biggest fire that hit the city this year.

In line with the sad occurrence, our dear brothers and sisters are knocking the doors of your hearts; asking for anything that you think can help them. Here are the things that are much needed by them at this point in time:
  • clothing (for adults and especially for children)
  • blankets
  • plastic mats
  • assorted, usable kitchen utensils
Of course, the greatest help, let's all pray for them that they will be able to recover from the happening and to cope up with the trauma they gained.

Some of the victims are currently settled in the different evacuation centers in the sports complexes of Barangay Day-as, Tejero, Zapatera and T. Padilla.

Drop off your donations at the Casa Gorordo Museum or at the Eduardo Aboitiz Development Studies Center, 35 Lopez Jaena St., Cebu City. Collection of contributions will be until Friday, August 13, 2010.

GOD SPEED to all of us, most especially to the fire victims. Let's all help!

Teens Choice Awards 2010

Teen Choice Awards 2010 Complete List of Winners

Photobucket
My eyes glued on my television screen for a couple of hours from the start of the show to the end; watching the much awaited awards night of teens, by teens and for teens- The Teen Choice Awards 2010.

For this year, the ceremony was hosted by pop singer Katy Perry and the male stars of TV's high school hit "Glee". It was held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA. The show was aired on August 9, Monday at 8:00pm (American Time) in FOX.

The yearly awards night brings together the biggest and brightest stars of the time to give acknowledgment and appreciation on how they work and give entertainment to and for the youth. Winners are selected through public voting who'll take home surfboard-shaped trophies which are todally unique (yep! I want one alright!)

Vampires Dominate Teen Choice Awards
Maybe we should alter the show's name into 'Vampire Choice Awards'. No, just kidding. But hey! Really!
